Two giant idols "Lame and Blind" who are David's enemies (2Sa 5:6,8) stood on the gate of Jerusalem to prevent David from entering Jerusalem. Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion because the Lord God Almighty was with him (2Sa 5:7,10). David trusted in the Lord and knew that the Lord was with him and fought for him. Trusting in the Lord, knowing the Lord is with us always, gives us strength to fight against our daily life enemies so that we can enter the gate of the promised city (Rev 21:12,25).

『凡等候耶和華，心裏尋求他的，耶和華必施恩給他。』
等候神，對一個遭受苦難的人來說可能很難去承受，但是神是信實的，祂給受苦的人盼望，也讓這些苦難成為祝福，我想神所教導的是如何用正面的態度去面對苦難，而不是賜下神蹟將苦難完全除去吧。

Jeremiah deeply believed that although the Lord brings grief, He will show compassion since His love is unfailing. Jeremiah felt a ray of hope in guilt and sorrow.
"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful…"(Heb 12:11). Tell the Lord in our prayer that we will humble ourselves to receive punishment and that our confidence in His salvation will never be depleted. It is always worth it to wait quietly and patiently for Him.

These days God really taught me a big lesson about eyesight vs faith. Often our eyes do not see clearly what God's will really is, especially when our eyes are weak. Our eyes are so limited that we do not see the unseen. Therefore, we ought to live by faith, not by sight.
Isaac's eyes are so weak (Ge 27:1) that he did not see in front of him is Jacob (the son in God's will (Ge 25:23; Mk 10:31) to receive God's blessing), not Esau (the son in Isaac's will to receive Isaac's blessing). However, his blindness eventually turned out to be "God's will done". God can turn satan's curse into a blessing and can right the human's wrong. No matter what, God's will be done.

耶利米的禱告好美，末了仍充滿了對神的信心與盼望。
「...我想起這事，心裡就有指望。我們不致消滅，是出於耶和華諸般的慈愛；是因他的憐憫不致斷絕。每早晨，這都是新的；你的誠實極其廣大！我心裡說：耶和華是我的分，因此，我要仰望他。凡等候耶和華，心裡尋求他的，耶和華必施恩給他...。」3:21-28
當我遭遇上帝很嚴厲的懲治的時候，如果我知道自己犯了甚麼錯，必定要先認罪悔改，向神說：「神阿，赦免我，幫助我下次不要再犯了，至於這次的懲罰，神阿，請給我力量來承受，若您許可...是否可以減刑？」
若不知道自己的罪，那是苦上加苦，「求神光照我，讓我知罪能改」，阿們！

草戊尚土 牧師和各位俱樂部的兄姐，平安：
這幾天陪老婆去了一趟馬祖，那裡的沙灘真的很美，很乾淨，小螃蟹在沙灘上爬來爬去，看到我們走過去又趕忙躲到洞裡，等到我們離開一會兒，小螃蟹又突然都跑了出來，我們遠遠觀察他們，他們也不覺得有什麼不同，看他們飛奔似的跑來跑去，真不知道他們在忙些什麼。
今天讀的經文剛好在敘述上帝與大衛後裔的互動，我的感覺像是一個慈愛的父親用雙手高舉著他的小孩，告訴他不要為明天感到害怕，我會保護你，不會讓別人來傷害你，我會告訴你應該要做的事，你要照我的話來做，我的責罰是為了不讓你做錯而受傷，明白嗎？我會永遠愛你。
這讓我回想到我和父親的互動，還有我和我女兒的互動，我幾乎不曾向父親說過我愛你，但是卻常向我女兒說把拔愛你，或許我也像是那沙灘上的小螃蟹，整天洞裡洞外忙來忙去，卻忘了有人一直在關心我，也忘了去感謝他。

The Lord declared that David's house and his kingdom would endure forever before Him; his throne would be established forever. The foundation of His throne is righteousness and justice. Love and faithfulness are also what He values.
"Horn" is the symbol of power. The Lord would exalt David and his descendants by His favor, for He is their glory and strength (Ps 89:17, 24). Even though David's sons forsook His laws or violate His decrees, He would still keep His faithfulness.

「倘若他的子孫離棄我的律法，不照我的典章行，背棄我的律例，不遵守我的誡命，我就要用杖責罰他們的過犯，用鞭責罰他們的罪孽。只是我必不將我的慈愛全然收回，也必不叫我的信實廢棄。我必不背棄我的約，也不改變我口中所出的。我一次指著自己的聖潔起誓：我決不向大衛說謊！」89:30-35
神所愛的，神必管教。神應許大衛「使他的後裔存到永遠，使他的寶座如天之久」，直到耶穌才全然實現。如果把神的應許當成防護罩、為所欲為，還是得承擔自己犯罪、離棄神的後果。當以色列及猶大國亡國、聖殿被毀，並非神毀約，而是大衛的後裔必須聽從神的管教、走在神的道路上，才能得到神所應許的福。

"Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench" (1Ki 18:38). When we are doing what the Lord commands us to do, He will definitely give His helping hand instead of being lukewarm.
Maybe He will not work in the way as He helped the prophet Elijah, but He will give us wisdom, courage, and perseverance to fulfill the mission. Be an earnest man of praying. The Lord is listening.
