Birthright might have been very important at that age. Esau should have been informed of his duty or responsibility as the first child by Abraham and Rebekah, but probably he wasn't so he took the birthright lightly.
As for Jacob's behavior, I was stunned by his "creative idea." Why did he consider that birthright could be sold? He didn't cherish brotherhood and would definitely suffer the consequences due to his sly act.

The interactions described in Song of Songs are so vivid that readers can easily associate the scenarios with their relationship with the Lord. For example, "with great delight I sat in his shadow, and his fruit was sweet to my taste" (So 2:3). The fair lady must have felt strong sense of security when she was with her beloved one. "O that his left hand were under my head, and that his right hand embraced me"(2:6)! I guess Solomon once experienced true love. Otherwise, how could he write in such expressive words?

The Lord once told Abraham that to his descendants He would give them the land in the Canaanites, so Abraham asked his servant to take a wife for his son from his kindred and from his father's house. In fact, Abraham shouldn't have worried so much. Now that God has a plan, He will make it carried out. Besides, Abraham could have let Isaac know about the promise from God. As long as Isaac learned that there would be a grand plan for him, I believe he would try his best to stick to it.

Queen Vashti refused to come at the king's command, so King Ahasu-e'rus was enraged. His anger burned within him but when his anger had abated, he remembered Vashti and what she had done and what had been decreed against her.
The Lord teaches us that a quick-tempered man does foolish things (Pr 14:17) and stirs up dissension (15:18). May I be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry! Prayer in the name of Jesus~

Abraham was honorable enough so the Hittites allowed him a burying place in their sepulcher. Yet Abraham didn't want to own it for free but rather paid the full price to Ephron. He could have bargained for a better price. This shows that he is not a person who asks for what he doesn't deserve.

如果瓦實提只是因為此單一事件就被摘除后冠，那還真是匪夷所思，所謂「比她還好的人」，就是順服王去展示肉體的王后？
建議王廢后的大臣們「都是達時務的明哲人」，可見後來的以斯帖真是"羊入虎口"呀！

亞伯拉罕經歷了許多事情後，讓他與上帝的關係變得十分緊密，但是上帝仍要試驗亞伯拉罕，這個試驗就是關係的試驗，包括上帝和他的關係以及他和他兒子以撒的關係。所以上帝給他出了一項驚人的難題，要他把以撒獻為燔祭，就是要他決定留下他與上帝的關係還是他與兒子的關係。這種難以置信的要求，對於一般人而言是十分殘忍，但是對亞伯拉罕而言卻是上帝所必須做的最後確認，因為亞伯拉罕是上帝所應許的『多國之父』，而這個應許是要成就上帝的救贖，並非成就亞伯拉罕，也就是在多國之父的上面還有一個天父阿爸，祂是一切的起頭，所有恩典也是祂所賜下，如果亞伯拉罕得到恩典後便捨棄與上帝的關係，那麼上帝便無法透過亞伯拉罕來與人建立關係。正因著亞伯拉罕所背負這樣重要的使命，也使他必須接受這麼嚴厲的考驗。

Jesus differentiates between loyal followers and disloyal ones. The former are looking forward to "the hour to reap," for the harvest of the earth is fully ripe" (Re 14:15); the latter will be thrown into the great wine press of the wrath of God (14: 17-20).
As you sow, so shall you reap. Therefore, we ought to seriously think about how to lead our lives as well as what to harvest.
