我覺得由這句話看來,晚年的希西家的信仰已經"走樣",居然連聽到自己的兒子將被帶到巴比倫去當太監都無動於衷,真是令人嘆息的反應.如果那個當下,希西家有悔改'呼求神的拯救,結局或許會不同吧!

耶和華 神是垂聽禱告的 神，但是如果得到應許後便開始驕傲，這樣可能會走向背離 神的道路，要讓他走回正確的路，那他還得付出一些代價。
但願主能憐憫我，當我的行為偏離您的道路時，讓我能回頭看到您在路上的光。

每次看到這段經文，就為希西家感到可惜。真的是晚節不保。而且也讓我引以為鑑。
今天再度看了段經文，另一個想法進入心中。當希西家這樣向上帝求時，難道上帝會不知道日後會發生的事情嗎？若知道！為何又應允希西家的祈求？或許，上帝總是讓世事的進展，有人的意願參與。要看你所作的是不是真的合神心意。
巴比倫因希西家病癒而祝賀他，希西家的回應不是述說上帝奇妙的作為，卻是顯示自己的財力～～這似乎也意味著希西家，因為病癒而樂昏頭了，而忘記對國外使者要謹慎以對。
每當我向上帝禱告求什麼時，我就會想起希西家的禱告及耶穌的禱告，我希望自己所求的，不會種下日後的禍因。我希望自己所求的，可以如耶穌說的『倘若可行，求你叫這杯離開我；然而，不要照我的意思，只要照你的意思。』、『這杯若不能離開我，必要我喝，就願你的意旨成全。』

The wisdom recorded here was not what we could learn from the natural world, but what we could learn from our relationship with the Creator of the natural world.
The relationship described here was fear in English,but in Chinese it was translated into 敬畏, which conveyed more than just fear. Reverence might be a better option. Reverence was a mixture of respect and awe. I thought this reverence was corresponding to the justice character of God, because what followed immediately was the depart from evil. Here the Chinese translation 遠離 seemed to also convey more than English depart. It also conveyed a meaning of far away from evil....

Here we saw the contrast between Gideon and Abimelech. Gideon rescued Israelites from the oppression of Midian people, yet he refused to be their king. Abimelech didn't rescue Israelites, but rather killed all children of Gideon, and usurped the kingship from Gideon's family.
Yet the irony was that Abimelech was the illegal son of Gideon....

Among those dramatic phenomena at the death of Jesus, the one most intriquing phenomenon was the raising of many dead saints...they appeared to many in the city of Jerusalem. Were they resurrected? Or they were just temporarily resuscitated? Would they continue to live? Or they would die one more time later on? What were the theological significance of their raising up from the death?....

Very interesting discussions and creative imaginations.
Let me join your guessing game. For me, Rebecca just used the unhappy relationship between them and their daughters in law as an excuse to separate the two brothers. In short term perspective, she seemed very clever to resolve an impending family crisis. But from longterm perspective, it resulted in the forever separation between her and her beloved son Jacob. Even after long years of separation, Jacob still lived under the fear of possible violent retalation from his elder brother Esau.

約伯這段描述令我想起基督徒(或是說我自己)的生命。
每當生活中遇見一些難渡過的事情，總是追想過去，神如何恩待引領自己。或是思想聖經中過去與神同行的人，他們的經歷。這些回顧，都可以增加自己的信心。雖然目前似乎還是『無花果樹不發旺，葡萄樹不結果，橄欖樹不效力，田地不出糧食，圈中絕了羊，棚內也沒有牛』但，卻還是可以因著追想過去，與神的密友時的甜蜜，讓這時的我還可以說『然而，我要因耶和華歡欣，因救我的喜樂。』

草戊尚土 牧師，平安：
約伯在這段經文裡自述從前 神保守他的日子，就像是一個密友與他同在，帶領他行過黑暗，人們都尊崇他、稱頌他，約伯也施恩濟貧並伸展公義，百姓仰望他如同君王。
『與 神同在，蒙 神祝福，平安順利，萬人景仰』，這是多麼棒的見證，但是這樣的恩典好像也不是每個人都能承受，約伯從天堂掉到地獄，然後再回想起在天堂的生活，換做是我大概會大聲向 神吶喊︰ 『Why? 為什麼？』
不過就像是牧師之前提到的『屬靈上的相撲』，我想不是每個人都能站上相撲台和 神比賽吧，裝備訓練不夠的可能也沒有這樣資格，能站上台抱緊主的人應該會去享受台上的一切吧。
