草戊尚土 牧師，平安：
谷哥談到巴比倫與亞述的興亡，大都是說巴比倫王過於驕傲自大，以為自己可以取代上帝，而亞述帝國是當時最強大的王國，在那時是沒有人會相信他會有滅亡的一天，但是耶和華卻都看見他們的罪惡，伸出了權杖讓他們敗亡。
這讓我想到三、四百年前的中國，皇帝以天子自居，四周的藩國都需前來朝貢，普天之下，莫非王土，率土之濱，莫非王臣，多麼的自傲強盛，但過了兩百年他卻也在一夕之間成了紙老虎，現在又過了兩百年，他好像開始崛起，但是也逐漸驕傲，無法尊重宗教與信仰，但願主能給予他的領導人足夠的智慧與謙卑，能給人民平安與幸福。
希望兩岸、西藏、亞洲以及世界 都能看見和平的曙光 -----還在學習謙卑的 卯同學 上

看到這段經文,再想到創世記18:17
耶和華說:我所要做的事豈可瞞著亞伯拉罕呢?
在神已經定旨'定意'定時要做的事情中,神彷彿都還是會透過祂所揀選的人(如眾先知),透漏訊息,給人得救的機會...若有人代求(如亞伯拉罕為羅德),若有人悔改(如尼尼微城)...神的憐憫和愛仍然超過逞罰...

For me, disaster was a very complicated and complex phenomena. We could try to understand this via many different perspectives and approaches.
There was a theory named, "System of system theory", which presumed that human being lived in a very complicated and inter-connected system of systems.
So far, we had already got some glimps of the physical, electrical, magnetic, psychological, social, ecological, and spiritual systems.

It was very interesting that we could interpret the same parable in two opposite ways. The pearl represented us or our Lord? Who was paying the high cost to purchase this pearl?
I thought this was a very interesting example to teach us to be more humble and flexible in our own interpretation of the Bible. Sometimes if a group of people could form a discussion group to share their personal interpretation of the Bible, and to learn from one another, then a so-called "The Hermeneutic Circle" would be formed, and the truth might reveal itself to this group of people through the process of mutual sharing and mutual correction...

I liked your quotation of Philippian 3:8. I thought this was an excellent example of "interpreting the scripture with other scripture"

Nice interpretation of this term 變賣. Actually you are interpreting "selling" with "changing". I wonder whether in the original Greek we could find such meaning. But in Chinese, we could interpret it this very interesting way. May be we could not do this in English. But, anyway, I would take this as a valid way of doing homiletic. The application interpretation of the scripture. Good work.

This is a very interesting topic which you might study a little bit further, "The submission of Sarah"
Sometimes, Bible didn't record Sarah's response to Abraham's action, but sometimes Bible did record some of Sarah's response. We could not argue from silence. Sarah's character might be more complicated than our imagination...
