草戊尚土 牧師，平安：
今天這段經文裡寫亞伯拉罕如何處理遺產的敘述是有點耐人尋味：『亞伯拉罕將一切所有的都給了以撒。亞伯拉罕把財物分給他庶出的眾子，趁著自己還在世的時候打發他們離開他的兒子以撒，往東方去。』
首先，這裡提到亞伯拉罕將一切所有的都給了以撒，但是仍有財物分給其他庶子，所以我的感覺是亞伯拉罕給了以撒的『一切所有』是一切神給亞伯拉罕所有的應許，而這應許也是神要給以撒和他後代的約定(創17:4-21)，我必使你的後裔極其繁多；國度從你而立，君王從你而出。
再來，關於搬遷到東方庶子們，我覺得有可能是阿拉伯人的祖先，從現在來看他們還是得著了財物（石油），但是爭戰卻是屢見不鮮，似乎仍未能得著平安。
我想或許這裡給我們的教導是，我們留給後代的應該是 神給我們的那一切，而不是別人給我們的那一切吧。
但願主給我更多智慧來了解那一切，也能將那一切傳揚給後代。

The history of the Israelite people seemed to also reflect our own personal life history.
We often didn't treat our God as the object of our utmost allegiance and submission. Then we created our own idol by transferring our utmost allegiance and submission to some idea, ideal, or other creature to replace God the Creator.

Eschatology was the more ambiguous part of the systemic theology. There were two possible end times for each one of us. The first was thanatology, which dealt with each one separately when we would need to say good bye to this world. While eschatology was the end time of the universe, every one then alive must say good bye to the old world.
But for Christian faith, end time seemed not to be an end time at all. End time seemed to be a time of transition into another kind of exsistence, a transformation of life.
After God created human beings in His image, human beings seemed to enjoy a endless life, or an eternal life, whether saved or not.

Rebekah seemed to be very kind and courageous to approach a old stranger with more than his asking. She seemed to be also a very pro-animal activist.
I would also presume that the golden gifts would play some role in this decision making process. But if this was a custom of those days, then we might not to judge against Rebekah's family too harshly.
