Moses sincerely asked the Lord to appoint a man to lead His people. Later, he did as the LORD commanded him. He took Joshua and caused him to stand before the priest and the whole congregation.

Moses was pleased and delighted that Joshua was a man in whom is the spirit. He invested Joshua with his authority, so that all the congregation of the people of Israel might obey. In general, Moses handed over his duty step by step instead of hurriedly dismissing everything he took charge of. This is a demonstration of a responsible leader.
