" Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father. John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with Holy Spirit."
Happily, we could become a witness to LORD's grace in our life, and led by Holy Spirit to spread gospel.

Jesus charged the apostles not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father since they would be baptized with the Holy Spirit before many days. Holy Spirit gives people courage, confidence, capability, and authority, which are required to undertake a task assigned by the Lord. Yet everything is to happen under the sovereignty of the Lord. Gospel wouldn't be accepted widely without His intervention. That's why patience counts in being a loyal apostle.

Moses tells the Lord, "If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you" (Ex 33:13). Sometimes working for the Lord is strenuous. Moses needs encouragement and recognition from the Lord. If the Lord's glory could be shown to Moses, he might have more confidence in carrying out his mission. Yet, not everyone can have the same experience as Moses. That's why faith counts on the road to sanctification

When the Lord was angry, Moses sought to the Lord for his favor by saying, "Why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand"(Ex 32:11)? "Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: 'I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky……'" (32:13).
Moses tried to persuade the Lord with empathy and affection, reminding him of His covenant with His people. The Lord's softened attitude shows that He is merciful and compassionate. He will definitely not ignore us when we plead and will always be understanding.

This ordinance considers slaves' right, their couples and children. I think that's reasonable.
But, it might not be suitable today.

I used to be ambitious, doing multi-tasks in a single day. Yet being too busy distanced me from my family members. As time goes by, I have changed, learning to live a slow-paced life. I labor in week days, but leave most of the weekend to my family members. Contentment replaces the hectic mind. Most importantly, the seventh day is time for going to church. I really enjoy the moments of peace and freedom then.

The LORD said to Moses, "I will stand before you on a rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and the water will come out of it for the people to drink."
The place was name Massah and Mer'ibah, because the Israelites complained and put the LORD to the test when they asked, "Is the LORD with us or not?"
It's similar to what Jesus was crucified for us. I hope that Spirit is full of my heart, the appreciation instead of the complaint and the trust instead of the test.

On the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be twice as much as they gather daily; but on the seventh day, which is a holy day of rest.
In this way, the God can test them to find out if they will follow His instruction.

Manna was given to the Israelites as their food. "Morning by morning they gathered it, each as much as he could eat; but when the sun grew hot, it melted" (Ex 16:21). They were not allowed to leave part of the manna till the next day unless the day of solemn rest was coming.
Manna symbolizes what the Lord offers us in our daily lives. There will be always enough for us to rely on so we don't need to gather more than we need. Besides, God wants us to take a complete rest on Sabbath. Follow His command, and we won't be disappointed.

Moses comforted them by saying, "Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD……The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be still" (Ex 14:13-14). Later, after Israel saw the great work which the LORD did against the Egyptians, they feared the LORD and they believed in the LORD and in his servant Moses.
Moses must have felt intense pressure in leading a large crowd of non-believers in the Lord but he made it. Not only the Israelites but also Moses thought the journey tough. Yet, never let the fear of striking out get in our way. The LORD is watching us in the pillar of fire and of cloud and will definitely save us from the hand of our enemy.

For when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the LORD slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both the first-born of man and the first-born of cattle. Therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all the first males who come to birth; but all the first-born of my sons I redeem.
And Moses said to the people, "Remember this day, in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage, for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place." This rescue is not only physical redeeming but also soul redeeming.

With the death of Egyptian firstborn, the Lord dramatically demonstrated that those not covered by the blood of the lamb will have no life or inheritance in the Heavenly Father's Kingdom. The other lesson we learn is that we are covered by that blood only if we follow His instructions explicitly. If anyone in Israel had not done exactly as He commanded, he would have faced the same consequences as the Egyptians. That means if we aren't totally covered by the blood of Messiah, we face everlasting death.

The Passover story reveals to us God's way of deliverance from bondage and oppression. God sought to set His people free from captivity so they could "worship Him" (Exodus 4:23).
Sometimes we may encounter difficult situations. Don't despair. There is a season to enjoy the prosperity of a certain time and place. God never expects us to remain in bondage. He always provides a way of escape.

Moses and Aaron did all these miracles in front of Pharaoh; and the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the Israelites go out of his land.
Pharaoh admitted his evil through many disasters and let people of Israel go out of his land finally; Moses always obeyed the LORD to finish what His orders are, even though his confidence was not enough in the beginning. But, he did them finally through the LORD's help.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the LORD in everything you do, and He will show you the right way.

Pharaoh's servants pleaded him to let the Israelites go serve "their" Lord. "Their Lord" shows that they did not recognize the Lord as their God. When Pharaoh heard his servants say that his country was being ruined, his heart slightly softened. Yet he was not a reliable leader in regard of what he said. What he had promised would not necessarily be carried out. Thus, he was to blame for the darkness over the land of Egypt.
