Dear All, Peng An,
Here are two stories about the miraculous births of two cousins. The older one would be the herald of the younger one. Both would die a martyr death.
Here angels were sent to announce the good news of their births to the father of the first child, as well as the mother of the second child. Both of them responded with wonder and querry, yet the angels treat their querry differently.

I loved to read the story like narrative of Yuze. I thought Yuze could become a very good story writer.
The whole life experience of Jacob was full of surprise and suspense, which could be developed into many very good stories.

From hearsay to eyesee was quite an experience. Jesus had once tested his students with these pair of questions: Who did people say I am? to be followed by Who did you say I am? That was from hearsay to eyesee. Our faith must learn to progress from second hand information hearsay to first hand life experience of eyesee.

Dear all, Peng An,
Throwing a coin was using chance as a way to discern the will of God. Yet the Philistines were using something very interesting. They would like to make sure that some supernatural power was involved in all these disasters happening after they caught the ark of the covent from the Israelite people. So that design a way to use the natural love of a cow to her newborn baby to help them discern their concern and questions. Creative and wise.

Faith was a very interesting thing. We prayed because we believed that our God would listen and respond to our prayers. Yet at the same our mind was still under the control of our past experience and worldview. Thus most of the time we were caught in the dilemma of between believing and unbelieving, just like the father of the poor epileptic boy.

Dear all,
Long time no see with all of you here. Somehow recently I could not find time to enjoy interacting with your meditations.
Joseph must have lots of thoughts racing through his mind when he saw his brothers came to him. Somehow he learned to be very careful this time, not as innocent as before. Joseph might learn this painful life lesson through so many years of suffering and pain.

我想這應該可以和新約裡的"沒有行為的信心是死的"相呼應吧!
很多年前,我曾經向一位屬靈的長輩借錢,利息比照銀行,雖然有人覺得"怎可向弟兄取利?"但我個人覺得是合理的,因為這位長輩賺的也是辛苦錢,他沒有規定我幾時要還清'沒有用高利貸的利息,合理阿!(Ps.當年的債務已經還清,那位長輩也已經返回天家)
所以贊成yuze"高利貸"的解釋方法.

說實話,感謝神讓我出生在現代,在那個當下,我可能也和一般人一樣會"憐惜"敗軍之將.
掃羅,好像不全是出於憐憫,因為他把弱小'沒有價值的都殺了,留下肥牛'肥羊.如果他只殺掉軍人,留下婦孺,然後對神說:"我實在下不了手!"或許結果會不同.
這裡看到掃羅是"選擇性"地遵守神的話,後來又說謊掩飾......

我覺得比起這章，前一章對以色列人所犯的罪描述得更清楚些。這章比較多提及行惡之後，神要進行的審判。不過還是可以看出以色列人作了哪些事！
以色列人拜偶像以致得罪神。
寧可用自己的方式，不願意聽從神的引導，所以經上寫著『要開墾你們的荒地，不要撒種在荊棘中。』若不是背逆，怎會有人寧可撒種在荊棘中，而不願意開墾荒地？
心中污穢，充滿惡行。除了身體的割禮外，心裡並沒有進行割禮，歸耶和華為聖。隨從周圍國家行可憎之事。
愚頑不認識神，有智慧行惡，沒有知識行善。神所給的恩賜，不是用來彰顯美善，而是用來籌算惡事。
草戊尚土牧師的分享，讓我心有戚戚焉！偶像～～真的很可怕，而且非常無形。任何會讓上帝在我們心中成為第2位的，都是偶像。我們的親友、興趣、工作、恩賜、愛的人、…、甚至連我們為了親近神，而開始學習的神學知識。對這些的喜愛都是好的，但是當有一天，這些人、事、物的喜愛，在我們心中把上帝擠到第2位時，也是它成為我們心中的偶像的同時。
