Dear all, Peng An,
If I would like to use one word to describe the evils of the Israelite people, it would "idolatry".
Often we would think that idolatry was committed by those gentiles who worshipped idols made by human hands. But I believed the wrost idols would be those who lived in our hearts, created by our hearts, and tyrannized our daily life. That which occupied the top position in our value system would be our idol, and Christians would commit such evil in the same way as all other people.

I enjoyed reading your comments and responses very much. God did grant each and every one of you some kind of holy imagination.
We often fell into the trap of evaluating one's piety by his surrounding happenings. If someone enjoyed great success, then we would be tempted to say that he must be pleased by God. If someone suffered from dismay or failure, then we would be tended to think that he must have done something affronting God. Kinds of 以成敗論英雄

Yeah, leadership issue was a very interesting human phenomena. We all would like to have good leaders to lead us, to protect and to provide for us. The price to enjoy such leadership was that we would need to submit to our leader's will, to obey his order, and to support his sustenance.
I like what Yuze shared here. For all Christians seemed to have two citizenships, one in the earth and the other in heaven. How to handle the relationship and interaction between these two citizenships would be a very inspiring challenge to all of us.

Here are two stories about the miraculous births of two cousins. The older one would be the herald of the younger one. Both would die a martyr death.
Here angels were sent to announce the good news of their births to the father of the first child, as well as the mother of the second child. Both of them responded with wonder and querry, yet the angels treat their querry differently.

From hearsay to eyesee was quite an experience. Jesus had once tested his students with these pair of questions: Who did people say I am? to be followed by Who did you say I am? That was from hearsay to eyesee. Our faith must learn to progress from second hand information hearsay to first hand life experience of eyesee.

Throwing a coin was using chance as a way to discern the will of God. Yet the Philistines were using something very interesting. They would like to make sure that some supernatural power was involved in all these disasters happening after they caught the ark of the covent from the Israelite people. So that design a way to use the natural love of a cow to her newborn baby to help them discern their concern and questions. Creative and wise.

Faith was a very interesting thing. We prayed because we believed that our God would listen and respond to our prayers. Yet at the same our mind was still under the control of our past experience and worldview. Thus most of the time we were caught in the dilemma of between believing and unbelieving, just like the father of the poor epileptic boy.

Dear all,
Long time no see with all of you here. Somehow recently I could not find time to enjoy interacting with your meditations.
Joseph must have lots of thoughts racing through his mind when he saw his brothers came to him. Somehow he learned to be very careful this time, not as innocent as before. Joseph might learn this painful life lesson through so many years of suffering and pain.
