(2 Sa23:13) "So the three mighty men broke through the Philistine lines, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem and carried it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out before the Lord."

From the interaction, I can feel the mighty men's royalty to David and David cherished their relationship to a great extent. He even contributed what they offered at the cost of their lives to God. How difficult it is to have such bosom buddies in one's life! David must have had some traits worth respecting so he attracted so many brave and trustworthy followers.
