Solomon spent seven years and conscripted a huge number of laborers building the temple. The interior and exterior of the temple was well designed and carved. Yet, the treasures of the royal palace was coveted by some rebellious people like Shishak, king of Egypt (1King 14:25, 26), Asa, King of Judah (1King 15:18, 19), Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah (2King 11:13-15), etc.

The temple should be a place for people to worship the Lord, but it turned out to be a source of sin. The result must have been out of Solomon's expectation and control.
