Jeremiah wept and his eyes overflew with tears, saying, "No one is near to comfort met, no one to restore my spirit" (La 1:16). The enemy had triumphed so his people were destroyed.

Yet, he still clung to hope, thinking as long as his people were willing to pour out their heart like water in the presence of the Lord and lift their hands to Him, the Lord might save them from sin.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Ro 6:23).
