As the Lord said, the house of Israel was rebellious, unyielding, and hardened. Ezekiel bore the responsibility to speak the Lord's words to them. To some extent, this might be a bitter but sweet burden. For example, he once went to the exiles, sitting among them for seven days—overwhelmed (Eze 3:15).

It is never too natural to speak at any time, any place. Yet, to be a reliable and "professional" prophet, Ezekiel had to be shut inside his house and deprived of this freedom to open his mouth (Eze 3: 24-27). How tremendous the hardship was to be a watchman for the house of Israel!
