The Israelites did not destroy the peoples as the Lord had commanded them, but they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs. They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them. They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons, the idols of Canaan (Ps 106: 34-38).

In sum, the Lord was angry with them because they defiled and prostituted themselves by what they did. Yet, the Lord is so merciful and still took note of their distress. May the Holy Spirit remind me all the time of the Lord's great love! Even with His covenant, I should not be bent on rebellion and waste away in my own sin.
