Paul was encouraging (Ac 20:2) and preaching the words of the Lord earnestly (20:7, 11). Though he suffered a lot, severely tested by the plots of the Jews (20: 18-21), he still stuck to his faith. He considered his life worth nothing, if only he might finish the race and complete the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace (20: 24, 33).

He even often wept for his disciples (20: 31, 36-38), concerned about their needs from the bottom of his heart. Only through the sincere companionship can the gospel be conveyed and well received.
