Syncretism is the fusion of diverse religious beliefs and practices. It relies on the whim of man, not on the standard of Scripture. The Bible makes it very clear what true religion is: Jesus replied, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"(Joh 14:6); "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved"(Ac4:12).

It's easy for us to become proud of some unique talent or ability that God has given us, thinking that somehow we acquire it ourselves. The same applies to the privileges, special opportunities, and accumulation of material possessions that God allows into our life. Since fusion is sometimes unavoidable, we need to keep alerted so as not to abandon loyalties.
