God highly values loyalty. That's why He shows strong hatred for idolatry. Comparing those who worship idols to adulterous women makes sense to me.

Yet, whenever I read the language that describes prostitution, lewdness, promiscuity, etc., I feel it kind of unbearable, which makes these words of the Lord an even more striking warning.
