The poet admitted that before he was afflicted he went astray (Ps 119: 67). What brought him back to the right track? The Lord's decrees and laws did (71; 75).

In fact, he cherished the experience of ever being afflicted because the Lord's faithfulness and righteousness were thus revealed. Furthermore, he didn't forget to grasp the love of the Lord (88). As long as we never turn away from Him, the affliction itself may be a blessing in disguise.
