According to the Lord, Ezekiel's countrymen listened to Ezekiel's words but didn't put them into practice (Eze 33:32). Although they expressed devotion with their mouths, their hearts were greedy for unjust gain (31).

These Israelites took Ezekiel's warnings lightly but the Lord gave Ezekiel confidence to keep up with his job. That's because He will remember and bless those who are loyal rather than those who don't know they should turn from their evil ways (10).
