According to Solomon, the ark brought to the temple was the revelation of God's promise. In Solomon's prayer, he pleaded God's eyes open toward this temple day and night (6:20). The supplications of Solomon and His people Israel can pray toward the temple and hear from heaven.

The function of the temple is to soothe the mind of people of Israel and to ensure them of the God's covenant and of a direct communication channel with Him.
