It's indeed hard to imagine how Hosea felt when he was taken to an adulterous wife and children of unfaithfulness. He was probably reluctant in the very beginning, but he chose to submit himself to the Lord.

Under difficult circumstances, the Lord might be even stricter with prophets. The name of Hosea means "may the Lord save" and he was claimed the greatest prophet of his generation.

The one picked up by the Lord to work out a grandiose plan must have some unique qualities such as perseverance and loyalty that please the Lord.
