Cain killed Abel out of jealousy. Siblings are our close flesh and blood. Shouldn't we support each other and feel proud if they are prosperous? No wonder the Lord punished Cain severely.

What made me astounded was when Cain questioned the Lord, "My punishment is greater than I can bear." That means Cain didn't look into his heart but care about what he had lost from the wrongdoing. Jealousy is one of the origins of sin. Foolishness attacks our conscience. Be aware.
