If the little book was a symbol of the Bible, the truths of that book might become the nourisher and supporter of the public mind. The consequence of devouring the book, i.e., of embracing its doctrines, would be persecutions and trouble. No wonder whoever ate the book would feel that that it was sweet as honey yet made his belly bitter (Eze 3:1-3; Re 10:9-10).
