With Paul's declaration of his innocence, Felix showed that he was acquainted with the way so he kept Paul under guard. Yet Felix's attitude changed after Paul discoursed on righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come. That's because he married another man's wife.
As the governor, he should not file wrong accusation just for his self-interest—to please the public. Besides, in face of his sin, to escape is not a good solution. After all, no one can be free from judgment from the Lord.

Saul shared with others though he was a faithful follower of the Lord then, he used to be a prosecutor who oppressed those who believed in Christian. Yet the crowd didn't focus on how he changed but on his past wrongdoings. They even wanted to kill him.
Not everyone can accept the gospel. So whoever is devoted to it must be psychologically stable enough so as not to be disappointed too far. As for the listeners, as long as they don't open their mind, hardly will they access the grace from the Lord.

Yet God intervened by having Paul rescued by the Roman army since Caesarea was the capital of Rome. This event lets us know that we will never know how God works wonders.

看到這段話，真令人動容，也提醒自己，如果為監督、牧養的角色，要時常謹慎，因為所看管的是耶穌用血買來的教會，怎能不用心看顧。而且豺狼、說悖謬的話的人每個世代、每個世代都會進到屬基督的團體行破壞的事。…

保羅將在外邦人中傳福音所作的一切事與耶路撒冷的弟兄們分享，大家聽後都歸榮耀給神。在耶路撒冷的猶太人基督徒長老與同工們仍固守猶太傳統，為了要防止猶太人以此來攻擊保羅。要保羅遵行猶太人的律法（Torah）條例，行潔淨之禮，剃頭，與不受猶太人所謂「不潔淨的外邦人」的基督徒分別出來。保羅也照樣做了。
今天我們藉著洗禮與上帝立約，祂要接納我們這謝原本帶有罪性的罪人，做我們的阿爸天父，我們要做祂的光明的子女。在眾人面前作見證，藉著耶穌的寶血，因信稱義，與神和好，願意把舊的老我埋葬，與耶穌復活的主同復活，滿有新生的樣式，在生活中來經歷神，過一個聖潔，討神喜悅，有見證，有生命的基督徒。

Then Paul answered, "What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."
And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased and said, "The will of the Lord be done."
Paul knew he will be arrested in Jerusalem, but he still went there. Because he though that it is God's order, he must follow and do it.

There is no suggestion of Christians participating directly in the cult until Ac 21:23-24, 26-27 when Paul and others underwent a purification ritual. Paul followed the Jews' ritual in pursuit of the peace in the Jerusalem church.
Although Paul had strong faith, he was willing to compromise over unimportant issues. Some churches are divided due to trivial matters. We should be like Paul, who had the backbone at crucial moments to avoid disputes.

Paul told the elders of the church that he had declared to them the whole counsel of God (Ac 20:27). He also emphasized the assistance from the Holy Spirit would be strong enough to support them when they cared for the church and served as overseers.
"By so toiling one must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, `It is more blessed to give than to receive'" (Ac 20:35). We should not escape from the duty from the Lord. Even if imprisonment and afflictions await us, we ought not to account our lives of any value nor as precious to ourselves. 大家平安
保羅擋了底米丟等人的財路，於是遭到很大的反對騷動，還好門徒及保羅的朋友阻止他前往"示威"現場，否則〈使徒行傳〉大概就到此為止了。
那安撫眾人成功的書記，以理性的言談平息了眾怒，「今日的擾亂本是無緣無故，我們難免被查問。論到這樣聚眾，我們也說不出所以然來。」(19:40)百姓清醒後，就散去了。
這個事件，讓人害怕「不理性的群眾運動」。本月中溫哥華有一起因球賽而起的暴動，新聞畫面上一位頭破血流的球迷說：「我覺得好丟臉，不應該鬧成這樣的。」顯然他已經"清醒"了。

保羅擋了底米丟等人的財路，於是遭到很大的反對騷動，還好門徒及保羅的朋友阻止他前往"示威"現場，否則〈使徒行傳〉大概就到此為止了。
那安撫眾人成功的書記，以理性的言談平息了眾怒，「今日的擾亂本是無緣無故，我們難免被查問。論到這樣聚眾，我們也說不出所以然來。」(19:40)百姓清醒後，就散去了。
這個事件，讓人害怕「不理性的群眾運動」。本月中溫哥華有一起因球賽而起的暴動，新聞畫面上一位頭破血流的球迷說：「我覺得好丟臉，不應該鬧成這樣的。」顯然他已經"清醒"了。

He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and with enthusiasm he proclaimed and taught correctly the facts about Jesus.
When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they explained to him more correctly the way of God. Apollos then decided to go to Achaia. He was great help to those who through God's grace and had become believers. He powerfully confuted the Jews in public, showing by the scriptures that the Christ was Jesus.

Suddenly, there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and every one's fetters were unfastened.
They witnessed this miracle.
The jailer asked Paul and Silas, "What must I do to be saved?"
And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."
Actually, when we encountered any difficulty, the Lord always goes with us to face it.

You will do well if you take care not to do theses things. With our best wishes."
The God loves everyone who would believe him, so we could not add any criteria to limit anyone to become a Christian.

After the jailer knew his own needs, he risked turning to Paul and Silas, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved"(Ac 16:30). Paul and Silas took advantage of this chance to evangelize the gospel. They preached gospel not only to the jailer but also to his family.
The confidence of Paul and Silas was so huge that their praying and singing hymns freed them from the prison. Our confidence in the Lord can work wonders and introduce the gospel to more people.

Antioch and the Council of Jerusalem resolved the dispute about how the Gentiles should be converted with reasoning and peace. First of all, they appointed the representatives, Paul and Barnabas, to meet the apostles and elders. Then Paul and Barnabas briefed. James summarized and then made the decision.
Next, the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. A letter was addressed from the Council to Gentile Believers. Those who they chose reported to Antioch the decision.
Leaders with maturity and wisdom should intervene when a sharp dispute like this happens. It has to be dealt with fairness and impartiality. Once a decision is made, everyone needs to abide by. That's the essence of democracy and togetherness.

Some Gentiles and Jew decided to mistreat the apostles and stone them.
But Barnabas and Paul went to other places to preach the Good News.
The crows offered sacrifice to the apostles.
When Barnabas and Paul heard what they were about to do, they tore their clothes and ran into the middle of the crowd, shouting, "Why are you doing this?
We are only human like you! We are here to announce the Good News, to turn you away from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven, earth, sea, and all that is in them…."

Preaching the gospel is not an easy task. Without holding the strong faith will not the mission be accomplished. The disciples of the Lord like Paul and Barnabas have exemplified a good model.

我想回應一下牧師所言「不知道和平教會兄姐是否也預備好了，成為在台灣的安提阿教會，成為差派跨文化宣道士的母會？」
當和平以「成為萬民的祝福」為教會宗旨時，就表示我們領受了神的呼召「去，使萬民做我的門徒」，深信神會親自幫助我們去完成「神的託付」。
神已經預備了人--願意去的、願意支持的，我們目前要做的，應該就是put everything together。這過程，相信一切有神的預備與帶領，深願我們不錯過神所賞賜的任何機會。

Jerusalem and their rulers did not know that he is the Savior and asked Pilate to have him put to death. But God raised him from death.
When the Jews saw the crows, they were filled with jealousy.

Paul told the Jews about the message of salvation, but some leaders of Jews couldn't take it seriously and showed lukewarmness. They did so out of jealousy; they couldn't tolerate Paul and Barnabas won more popularity from the public than they did.

And then, the Lord has sent his angel and rescued him from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting.
He described to other believers how the Lord had brought him out of the prison.
When Peter encountered this disaster, the other believers prayed for him and an angle rescued him. But some believers were persecuted by King Herod.
The Lord used different methods to lead us depended on our confidences.

"God has shown me that I should not call any man unholy or unclean. That is why I came without even raising any objection when I was sent for" (Ac 10:28-29). Peter was not open-minded enough in the very beginning to spread the gospel to the Gentiles. Yet with the reminder from the Holy Spirit, he was astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. So there should not be any discrimination against the Gentiles. Gospel is for everybody.

Persecution turned out to be the driving force of spreading the gospel. Those we had been scattered preached wherever they went. Sometimes, living a smooth life might become a stumbling block of progress. Obstacles are not necessarily evil. When we are in a difficult situation, don't complain and ask if the Lord would like to equip ourselves to undertake a bigger task.

Stephen made a long speech about the relationship between the Lord and the Israelites. In fact, he didn't argue for himself but for the Gospel. He wanted to persuade the Jews that God is in charge of everything though His people fail once in a while. Those who refused to obey Him would definitely suffer in the end.
What Stephan said was similar to what Jesus said in the Sanhedrin (Mt 26:64; Mr 14:62; Lu 22:69). The vision he saw approved the Jesus' claim. No wonder he irritated the rebellious leaders and was put to death.

教會開拓者或宣教士，多半需要「祈禱傳道」兼「管理飯食」，當「門徒增多」（教會增長），就會需要更多的工人一起照顧主的莊稼。

Since the apostles had to focus themselves on preaching, they needed others to take charge of the daily distribution of food. Regarding the choice of proper assignees, they took it seriously. Those whom they chose like Stephen and Philip were all men full of faith and of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, it takes cooperation and each duty properly fulfilled to make a church healthy and sound.

挪亞和他的家人及成對的動物在方舟中待了一年又十天，這些日子從方舟望去盡是浩大的洪水，挪亞所作的事情就是等待上帝的話語，沒有聽到上帝的回應就只能等待，直到上帝清楚的對挪亞說可以走出方舟，挪亞才將方舟的門打開。
挪亞踏上了土地，他明白自己是蒙恩的人，他要築壇獻祭來感謝上帝，他知道如果自己沒有被上帝揀選進入方舟，或是上帝忘記漂流在洪水中的方舟，那他就會被洪水吞噬，無法平安的踏上土地。
所以他獻上最好的一切給上帝，也重新建立了人與上帝的關係，這關係是一種救贖的應許，上帝願意給人機會並再次打開方舟的大門，上帝願意給人時間來恢復和祂的關係，而不再用洪水來滅絕與人的關係。

耶穌面對彼拉多的審問時，只對他問：「你是猶太人的王嗎?」有回應，耶穌回答說：「你說的是。」之後就再也沒有說什麼了。
面對十字架的酷刑也是不發一語。
耶穌被捕之前，在客西馬尼向上帝禱告，傾心吐意，真誠地對上帝說「倘若可行，求你叫這杯離開我。」但他也順服地對上帝說「然而，不要照我的意思，只要照你的意思。」
既這樣禱告，上帝的心意也是如此，就甘心順服到底，面對審問，面對十字架酷刑，不發一語，堅心忍耐。

洗禮是上帝要建立與人和好的關係。自從亞當被趕出伊甸園後，上帝和人便因著罪而隔離了，所以人必須先為自己的罪悔改而除去罪的隔離，接著被上帝的恩典所赦免並恢復與上帝的關係。相反的，如果人是有目的的想用洗禮來建立和上帝的關係，而未能先從罪中釋放出來，則他還是陷入罪中。（罪是撒旦所掌控的世界）

在我兒時的成長中，忙碌的嚴父，生病的慈母和照顧我的阿嬤或許都是我生命中的天使。

I agree this idea, because I believe the LORD is fair for everyone according to our confidences.

「彼得和眾使徒回答說：順從 神，不順從人，是應當的。」(5:29)由字面上看，似乎有點"反叛"的意味。
實際上彼得與眾使徒教導神的道、醫治人、歸榮耀給神（而不是要聚眾以推翻政府），他們把"能力"用在對百姓的關懷上，而不是用在與當政者對抗。神愛子的國度與地上的國是不同的，但只有相信的人才能體會。
迦瑪列是令人敬重的教法師，飽讀精通律法的他，一定很嚮往"神的國降臨"，只是他或許不確定耶穌的彌賽亞身分，不確定使徒們所順從的，是否就是他所等候的救贖主。所以他說...
「...現在，我勸你們不要管這些人，任憑他們吧！他們所謀的、所行的，若是出於人，必要敗壞；若是出於 神，你們就不能敗壞他們，恐怕你們倒是攻擊 神了。」(5:38-39)
由迦瑪列的反應，讓我學習到，對於不明白的事，不應妄加論斷，更不應該為了自身的利益而壓迫對方。

Though helping the apostles was not Gamaliel's intention, his words indirectly prevented the Sanhedrin from being dissolved. Thus we can learn that even a Pharisee like Gamaliel could have been assigned by the Lord to rescue the apostles. This echoes what Peter said, "We must obey God rather than men" (Ac 5:29) and what Gamaliel put, "…if their purpose or activity is from God, you will not be able to stop these men…" (5:39). The Lord's sovereignty makes everything possible.

I heard about some experiences of being filled with Holy Spirit. For example, some could speak in other tongues and some felt sense of cool in the backbone. As for me, I was greatly moved to tears on certain occasions. The presence of Holy Spirit may take several forms and every encounter would be unique and precious to each individual.

但，到了二章，從彼得所傳講的信息中，似乎可以看見，他們明白神的心意，耶穌不是作以色列永遠的王而已，祂是全世界永遠的王。

時時刻刻與神同行，忍耐等候是必然要經過的階段。以色列人大軍出埃及之後，也是剉列等，埃及軍隊隨時可能追殺，所以前50天是終日人心惶惶的時刻。耶穌被釘十字架，也是象徵正式與猶太教統治階級、羅馬政權決裂，另一種出埃及。出舊猶太教入基督教。在這關鍵時刻，耶穌要門徒留在最危險的地方--耶路撒冷，忍耐等候50（或7x7=49）天。付代價是有收獲的--聖靈的澆灌。
忍耐等候時，禱告、默想神的話語是必要的。
