"I'll smash this nation and this city just as this potter's jar is smashed and cannot be repaired." (Jer 19:11) The parable of breaking a clay jar is that the Lord would destroy the people of Judah one day since each of them followed the stubbornness of his evil heart.

"Should good be repaid with evil? Yet they have dug a pit for me." (Jer 18:20) One thing really confused me. God asks us to embrace our enemy, so weren't there any better ways to teach the people of Judah a lesson in addition to ruining them?
