Aaron put the blame on ordinary people by saying, "You know how prone these people are to evil. (Ex 32:22)" But in fact, as a leader, he should have had the wisdom to distinguish right from wrong instead of leading them into making the golden calf.

People tend to commit sins, but from this event, we can see God is merciful to forgive the sinned as long as they are willing to repent. Aaron's example could be a reminder to alarm us to face our own sin. Admitting it is the best policy. After all, God hates sins and His mercy will not touch upon the stiff-necked.
