The afflicted man felt rejected since the Lord had taken him up and thrown him aside. Yet he got strength when he was alone, praying and pouring out his lament before Him.

Instead of blaming his distress on the Lord, he held hope for the rebuilding of Zion, deeply believing that the whole world would turn to the Lord ultimately (Re 11:15; 21: 1-27). Zion symbolizes the foundations of the earth and enabled the man to retain or even enhance his confidence in the Lord, who remains the same and whose years will never end.
