Some Levites had to serve as gatekeepers (1Ch 9:17-27); some were in charge of the temple service (28-33). Those with musical talents were exempt from other duties because they had to be responsible for the work day and night (33).

There is no superiority of any task. The Lord focuses more on our attitude while we are serving. As long as everything is done in a fitting and orderly way (1Co 14:40), He will definitely appreciate it.
