Welcome to our devotion club. St. Paul here seems to argue from a hedonistic philosophy, which is led by Greek Philosopher Epicurus. St. Paul uses a more or less sarcastic approach in quoting the Epicurus hedonism argument, that since we have no future after death, the best philosophy of life is to enjoy all you can while you are still alive. Then Christian would be worse off than Epicurus hodonists, since Christian would emphasize sacrificing your own rights for the care of others...
