Dear all, Peng An,
Here was the issue of the so called short ending and long ending of the gospel of Mark. The short ending stopped at verse 8, where the two women ran away, trembling and fearful, not telling anyone about their encounter that morning.
The long ending seemed to try to explain why Christianity could be spread to the world after the short ending. Yeah, in the long ending, there were some details which were not recorded in other gospels. Yet, in Acts, there was incidece of Paul being biten by a venous snakes, yet was unharmed.
The problem I had was with one interpretation of the long ending, which would demand that the preacher must take a venous snake and was not hurt by its bite, to prove that he was true disciple of Jesus Christ. Some would use this to convince others to Christianity.
