Why Jesus told those women not to weep for Him but weep for themselves and for their children was that He could foresee the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple by the Romans 40 years later. In addition, Lk (23:55-56) described some women preparing spices and perfumes for Jesus' Burial.

In my eyes, blessed were these loyal followers, who obeyed the commandment and rested on the Sabbath. May us never receive such a strong warning from God. Or when God is still willing to issue any form of warning to us, we should never turn a deaf ear.
